Local markets
Portugal is known for its daily markets where you can not only buy fresh fish, local cheeses, and fresh fruits and vegetables but often also enjoy a delicious serving of chicken piri-piri.
In the center of Portugal you’ll find multiple markets. Here are the market days in the mentioned cities:
– Ferreira do Zêzere: Monday morning
– Tomar: Friday morning
– Ourém: Thursday morning
These markets offer a great opportunity to experience local culture, try traditional Portuguese foods, and find unique items to take home as souvenirs.
Hiking
We have a large selection of hiking trails available for you, either starting directly from Campsite Quinta da Cerejeira or with a starting point within a short distance from our campsite. It is one of the specialties of Central Portugal. These routes vary in difficulty, but they all have in common that they pass through the beautiful surroundings of our campsite. We also have several routes that offer frequent scenic views of the Rio Zézere.
Water sports
The region where Campsite Quinta da Cerejeira is located is not only known for the Templars but also for the many water sports opportunities. Just a 5-minute drive from our campsite, you’ll find Lago Azul on the Barragem do Castelo de Bode reservoir, which is fed by the Rio Zêzere. There are plenty of water sports activities happening here.
Barragem do Castelo de Bode is 60 kilometers long and is a great place for hiking, cycling, swimming, or engaging in various water sports. it is also one of the specialties of Central Portugal. You can enjoy activities like paddleboarding (SUP), motorboating, jet skiing, wakeboarding, sailing, or canoeing on the lake. If you wish to rent any of these vehicles, we’re here to assist you.
Biking
Near Campsite Quinta da Cerejeira, you can enjoy wonderful cycling. There are not only beautiful bike rides towards Tomar but also several lovely routes along the Rio Zêzere. We have various marked cycling routes available for you, which you can access in our reception. We’re also happy to assist you if you’d like other suggestions or wish to book an organized day trip.
