Hiking straight from the campsite

From our campsite in Ferreira do Zêzere, just 20 minutes from Tomar, several hiking trails begin right at our doorstep. A popular route leads towards the Nabão River, taking you through olive groves, cork oak trees, and quaint villages. Along the way, you might even spot birds of prey or elusive foxes.

At the reception, we offer a variety of free hiking maps and GPS routes, suitable for shorter walks of 4–6 km or longer hikes up to 15 km.

The green heart of Portugal

Our surroundings are part of the less touristy, yet truly authentic green heart of Portugal. Here, you can walk in peace and quiet, with views of rolling hills, reservoirs, and traditional farms. In spring, the hills turn yellow with blooming broom, and in autumn, you’ll find chestnuts and fig trees everywhere.

You’ll come across the most beautiful wildflowers here, with different species blooming in each season.

Hiking around Tomar

Tomar is not only a cultural hotspot, but also a beautiful base for hiking routes. Combine a visit to the impressive Convento de Cristo (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) with a walk through the nearby Mata dos Sete Montes, a hillside city park with peaceful trails and views of the castle.

Another highlight is the Caminho de Santiago, which passes through Tomar — a historic pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela. Hike a portion of it from Tomar and return via a regional taxi or bus.

Hiking trails at the Castelo de Bode Lake

Just 15 minutes from the campsite lies the beautiful Castelo de Bode reservoir. Here you’ll find quiet coves, sandy beaches, and scenic trails along the water. Especially in the early morning, it’s a magical place for a refreshing walk — which you can even combine with a swim in the lake.
